Meet The Founder

Hello, my name is Nyia and I am the founder and president of Strides Against Sepsis, A NJ Nonprofit Corporation. In May 2016 my family suffered a huge loss when my grandmother passed away from Sepsis. Prior to this, my family and I had no knowledge of what Sepsis was, how to detect it or its harmful effects. This inspired me to create SAS as a way to continue to educate myself, my community and provide information that could help save someone’s life. I have made it my mission to raise awareness to this life-threatening disease because it is far too serious and uncommonly known to stand by and do nothing. My family was greatly affected by this disease and I want to help other families that have been affected or may be in the future.
